About Us

Dr. Stanley grew up in the mountainous area of Trail, British Columbia, Canada. He spent his time focusing on hockey and baseball, when not in school. In 1990, after graduation, he followed his brother, a family practice physician, and his sister, a lawyer, to the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver. At U.B.C., he completed a four year Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc.) with a major in Pharmacology and Theraupeutics. He continued at U.B.C. and completed his 4 year Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) program. In 1999, he moved to Michigan and spent one year as a General Practice Resident in Dentistry (Hospital Dentist) at the Detroit Medical Center. In 2000, he was accepted into Medical School at Wayne State University and completed his M.D. in 2003. He spent the next year doing his General Surgery Internship at Henry Ford Hospital. In 2006, he graduated from Henry Ford Hospital’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program, a fully accredited residency by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and specializes only in surgery involving the face. After training, he moved to Bismarck, North Dakota and joined the Institute of Facial Surgery.

The Institute of Facial surgery was originally established by Dr. Clark Taylor in the early 1990’s. Several surgeons have been involved; most recently, Dr. Phillip Iero. Dr. Stanley recently took over the practice and moved it from it’s previous location near Medcenter One Hospital to it’s current location on Tyler Parkway.

His current certifications include basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS). He is also an instructor in advanced trauma life support (ATLS) for the American College of Surgeons. He holds active licenses with the North Dakota Board of Medical Examiners and the North Dakota Board of Dental Examiners. In addition, he is a certified professional in PCA skin, Obagi Medical and Palomar laser systems.

Dr. Stanley’s memberships include the Accreditation Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Dental Association, the North Dakota Dental and Medical Associations, the Chalmers J. Lyons Academy of Oral Surgery and the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine.

He volunteers his time with the St. Alexius O.R. Committee, the St. Alexius Trauma Committee Peer Review and the Bismarck State College Surgical Technology Advisory Board. He holds active hospital privileges at St. Alexius Medical Center and Medcenter One Hospital in Bismarck.

His professional interests include cosmetic facial surgery, facial trauma, facial reconstruction, obstructive sleep apnea surgery and oral implants.
